Supporting Families Through Postpartum & Beyond

Welcome

My name is Kelsey (she/her) and I am a postpartum doula working in the Toronto and Innisfil area. I’m working with families in-home as well as virtually to empower your postpartum experience by providing you with the support you need to feel confident through Postpartum & Beyond.

Postpartum support ranges from Virtual Consultations to in-home care helping to provide newborn care, promote postpartum wellness, and rest. During pregnancy, I can support you with postpartum planning, building your registry, baby-wearing, product knowledge (travel systems, breast pumps, etc.,). Nesting days look like nursery organization, and meal prepping. And night shift can include completing all newborn care duties to allow parents a full night’s sleep.

Before I specialized in postpartum care, I worked as a Child and Youth Practitioner in several roles. My most recent experience has been working with 4-29-year-olds as a Child & Youth Care Practitioner, with children and youth who had different needs (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Behavioural Challenges), or were at higher risk for experiencing violence based on social location (racism, poverty, gender-based violence, neighbourhood, etc.). This makes me especially adept at supporting older siblings transitioning into a growing household, as well as recognizing early behaviours and being able to provide additional support.

My practice is survivor-centred, body-positive, sex-positive and inclusive. I am deeply committed to social justice and actively engage in continued education and capacity building opportunities to better show up for Indigenous, Black, People of Colour (IBPOC), as well as other groups that are marginalized. I hold with honour my role as a settler in T’karón:to, what is now commonly known as Toronto. I believe dismantling systems of power and other forms of oppression is possible and necessary to heal individual/collective trauma and mental health.

I continuously strive to raise awareness about the impact of childhood sexual abuse and sexual trauma on individuals as well as families, especially in the context of understanding generational trauma, and how we teach consent and sexual health. I am currently working towards completing my Certification for Postpartum Care, as well as completing my Bachelor of Community Development. I have completed my ASIST training meaning I am comfortable talking about anxiety, depression, and suicide.
